Summary - We recommend the American Express® Preferred Rewards Green Card to the frequent traveler who is a member of a few frequent flyer or frequent guest programs. Find out more....

Membership Rewards - The American Express Rewards Green Card is a charge card and not a credit card. That means you have to pay your bills fully every month. It's reward program is based on the the American Express Membership Rewards program. This is perhaps the most comprehensive credit card reward program. You can exchange points into miles for 21 airline partners, 15 hotel partners and tons of other shopping and entertainment rewards.

Reward Formula - Cardholders will earn one point for every dollar spent on the card. Membership Rewards allows you to earn unlimited points which do not expire. New cardholders get 5,000 bonus miles.

Airline Partners - The Membership Rewards program (as mentioned earlier) has 21 airline partners. The points you earn can either be transfered directly to the programs' air miles program or you can exchange them for gift checks. The airline partners are Delta, Continental, JetBlue, US Airways, Aer Lingus, AeroMexico, Air Canada, Air France, Air Jamaica, Alitalia, ANA Cathay Pacific, El Al Israel Airlines, Frontier Airlines, Global Pass, Hawaiian Airlines, LAN, Mexicana, Qantas, Song, South African Airlines, Swiss Air and Virgin Atlantic.

Fees - The annual fee is $110.00. You pay a flat fee of $30.00 for up to five additional cards. Since this is a charge card, there is no apr as you may to pay your bills fully each month.

Verdict - We recommend the American Express® Preferred Rewards Green Card to the frequent traveler who is a member of a few frequent flyer program as the membership rewards allow you to transfer points directly to miles. Alternatively, members of non-US airlines frequent flyer programs that do not have a US-based credit card will find this card very useful for earning extra miles. Furthermore, there are many other great rewards as well. If you spend a lot on your card, you may be offered the Platinum or even Centurion card.
