The AT&T Universal Universal Savings Platinum Card was last reviewed on 23rd September 2007Summary - The ATT Universal Savings Platinum Card is a prepaid phone card and credit card combined into one. This card was designed for those who wants the convenience of using AT&Ts' prepaid phone card service with a credit card. We recommend the AT&T Universal Savings Platinum Card to an AT&T user, or those looking for either a low interest credit card and/or a good 0% balance transfer deal because This is an AT&T phone card combined with a credit card There is no annual fee The apr is low You get an excellent balance transfer deal - 0% apr on balance transfer for 12 months from date of transfer (you can transfer within 12 months). Note that a balance transfer fee applies with this offer
Let's look at this card in more detail
Phone Benefits - The ATT Universal credit card is a prepaid phone card and a credit card combined into one. Cardholders get 2 free directory inquiries each month. Furthermore, you get up to 30 minutes free phone minutes per month, anytime, anywhere.
Cardholders will earn 5% on each dollar you spend on eligible AT&T purchases that is matched by the amount you spend on other purchases. However, for the first 12 months of cardmembership, you will earn 10% on each dollar you spend on eligible AT&T purchases that is matched by the amount you spend on other purchases. You may save a maximum of $350 in any calendar year (eligible transactions appearing on your January-December billing statements).
A couple of fineprints are in order here. Firstly, eligible transactions for which you earn savings are AT&T consumer products and/or services and Cingular bill payments. AT&T consumer products and services must be purchased through 1-800-222-3111, 1-866-246-4852, www.att.com, www.telephones.att.com, www.cingular.com, Cingular Company owned stores or AT&T customer service centers. Purchases from independent Cingular dealers are not eligible, unless they are for payment of Cingular service.
Annual Fee and APR - The ATT Universal credit card has no annual fee. The APR is either prime rate plus 3.99%, 6.99% or 8.99% depending on your credit history. The average daily balance method (including new purchases) is used to calculate monthly balances. New cardholders get a 0% APR deal for balance transfers for 12 months. But because there is no cap on the maximum balance transfer fee, I would not recommend this card to do a balance transfer.
Verdict - The AT&T Universal Savings Platinum Card will appeal to users of AT&T services including cingular wireless. Apple iPhone users may want to consider this card as a way of saving on their wireless bills.
